Indicator Initiative

The Criminal Justice Indicator explores and develops alternative strategies for the use of 911, transportation issues, expanded peer support and modified clinical approaches for prisoners with mental health. 

Recommendations about the expansion and placement of appropriate housing options for these highly vulnerable populations will then be developed from a four‐month study.

Data from the Mental Health Task Force was used to develop alternatives for psychiatric hospitalization from a sample of 200 individuals readmitted to publicly funded hospitals within 30 days of discharge.

The Travis County Children and Youth Planning Partnership leads the efforts of this indicator and the  development of sets and action plans around discretionary school removals for school and youth/family specific root cause analyses.

The Behavioral Health Planning Partnership is the indicator's steering committee. Working with the Integrated Care Collaboration and Integral Care, data of individuals presenting to local area emergency departments with primary substance use disorders is used to identify root causes and alternative strategies.
